Nothing stops the courageous ladies of Melksham WI! Armed with thermals, waterproofs, boot, gloves and brollies we braved the weather for an open air performance of one of Shakespeare's greatest comedies. Despite the rain, our spirits weren't dampened, with everyone having a lovely time. The performance by the actors was great, you would not have known that the rain was lashing at times. They truly lived up to the theatrical expression "The show must go on!" The audience really appreciated their efforts, and we are sure there were even more people in the audience than for the performance that we saw last year. Special notice should be made of the performance of Bottom - who did some great boasting and roaring!
What a lovely meeting! Madelaine give a really good talk about the importance of midwives, which sparked a lively discussion about numbers of births and the overall way that nurses are trained today compared to when some of our members were first in nursing. The discussion was all about the WI's latest resolution to support the training and provision of more midwives, which has gone on to be accepted as the resolution for the WI at national level. By having a discussion rather than a speaker, it meant that we all had a bit more time for a cuppa and a natter - which is one of the best bits of
